Quote of the month: “To study and not think is a waste. To think and not study is dangerous”

“To study and not think is a waste. To think and not study is dangerous”, the old saying by Confucius goes.

What this means is that learning and thinking are complementary and indispensable. By combining learning and thinking we can find practical and useful solutions. Studying without thinking is useless.

But one should study before thinking and making decisions. Someone smart once said: “If you don’t want to do real learning and research, then you will build a tower on the sand.” Studying without thinking will result in not learning anything useful at all. At the same time, thought without a basis in learning leads to confusion and a lack of insight.

Don’t confuse “Confucius” with “confusion”!
