Brenton Battlefeld has joined LMR Partners as a PM. He was most recently a PM at Rafiki Capital Management in Hong Kong. Earlier he was at Barclays and Boston Consulting Group.

Timothy Cheung
A new hedge fund management firm, LSL Partners, has been launched in Sydney, Australia. The firm will shortly launch its first fund, The Fury Fund, an Asian equity long/short strategy. The firm, which also has plans to open a Hong Kong office, is led by Timothy Cheung (ex-Perpetual Investments, Morphic Asset Management, Cheung Capital Management), Kim Ivey (ex-Vertex Capital Management, Commonwealth Bank), Chung Ip (ex-Outrider Management, Ascend Capital, Accel-KKR, JP Morgan) and David Gray (ex-UBS, State Street). Cheung will serve as the CIO.
Eurekahedge: Asia ex-Japan mandated hedge funds posted the steepest decline among regional mandates during the month, down 2.30% with underlying Greater China and Indian hedge fund managers losing 3.49% and 1.76% respectively. Performance-based losses of US$1.8 billion were recorded while investors redeemed US$0.8 billion from the mandate during the month.
