Charles Allard, the former Asia chairman of Winton Capital, is back in the game, this time as chairman of quant manager XHE Capital in London. At XHE he has teamed up with Luke O’Brien, Worrawat Sritrakul (Imperial College) and Justin King (ex-Bright Trading).
Sean Debow, who most recently was a co-founder of Matchpoint Investment Management in Hong Kong, is understood to be planning to launch a new Asain equity long/short fund. Earlier he worked at Ivory Capital, Olympus Capital, UBS and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.
Pinyin Capital Management, the Hong Kong-based Asian hedge fund launched by ex-SAC portfolio manager Andrew Bazarian, has hired Jeb Altonaga as COO. Altonaga was most recently in charge of Northern Trust’s Asian fund admin business.
Michael Mills has joined RV Capital Management in Singapore as head of business development. He was was most recently a marketing director at OCP Asia and was earier in cap intro at UBS and Citi.
Hedge fund industry veteran Jonathan Boyer, co-founder of Boyer Allan, is back in the business as senior adviser to Springboard Capital. Springboard is a Greater China-focused hedge fund firm founded by Andy Li, a former Boyer Allan portfolio manager.
After nearly ten years at the firm, Oscar Wan has left his gig as COO of LIM Advisors, the Asian multi-strategy hedge fund firm founded by George Long. Earlier Wan was at Credit Suisse and Lehman Brothers. Graham Ernst and Ben Mak have taken over Wan’s responsibilities.
Dennis Ni (ex-Atlantis Investment, CICC, PwC) and Jeffrey Deng(ex-CICC) has set up Hedgestone Capital Group, a Greater China equity long/short manager headquartered in Hong Kong with additional offices in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Eva Tan has left her business development gig at Octagon Capital Management in SIngapore. Earlier she was at Schroders and GIC.
