Shiv Sehgal has left Artha Capital Management to join Goldman Sachs. Earlier in his decade-long investment management career he was at Moon Capital, Symphony Financial Partners and Affinity Capital Partners.

Wake up and smell the coffee: Kenneth Ho, formerly a trader at Horizon Asset, Brevan Howard and Ellerston Capital, seems to have walked up a hill in Kuala Lumpur to set up a coffee shop.

Stats Investment Management, a US$300m hedge fund manager in Japan, is fighting back against the SESC’s allegations of insider trading against one of its fund managers. Stats’ CEO Shogo Sekimura told Reuters that the firm will take legal action against the Japanese government if it gets fined by the FSA.

Andrea Cattaneo has left his gig as an investment analyst at Aglaia Investment Management to join Karma Royal Group.

Catalin Burlacu has joined Regal Funds Management as a quants trader in Singapore. Burlacu was most recently at V Wealth Capital. Previously he ran his own fund at Nexus Alpha and he also has experience from both Singapore and Tokyo at Millennium Partners, Morgan Stanley, Barclays and Dresdner Kleinwort.

Assets managed by hedge funds based in Singapore grew 20.9% to reach reached S$88.8 billion by the end of last year, according to the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s 2013 Singapore Asset Management Industry Survey which was published this week.

Rie Ohashi has resigned from her gig as analyst at HC Asset Management. She joined HC in 2011 and has been actively involved in strategy research and monitoring. Prior to joining HC, she began her career at Daiwa Securities.

Robin Duxfield has left Altis Partners, where he has spent the last four years, to join Sniper Capital as COO. Duxfield was earlier in his career at FRM.

Takayuki Asakawa (ex-Darwin Capital, Deutsche, ABN Amro, Fortis) and Naoyuki Takahashi (ex-Nikko Cordial, Yamaichi, Merrill Lynch), the founders of Zone Investments, have taken their Tidal Japan hedge fund on to the platform of Gordian Capital in Singapore.

GLG Partners, part of Man Group, has recruited portfolio manager Adrian Edwards for its Japanese equities team which manages about US$6.5b. Edwards joins from Stratton Street Capital.
