Andrew Wang (ex-Goldman Sachs) plans to launch an Asian hedge fund focused on Chinese and Japanese equities. Wang’s new firm Redstar Auspicious Capital Management plans to launch the fund early in 2014.
Rebecca Yi (ex-Lighthorse, Prime Capital, Cantor Fitzgerald) has joined Clarus Investment Management in Hong Kong to manage the Hephzibah China Credit Fund focusing on investing in corporate special situation loans in China.
Hiroshi Harada has joined Lighthouse Investment Partners in New York. He recently left HedgeMark where he was head of manager research. Earlier in his career he worked at Nomura Funds Research and Technologies, ACAM and Dai-ichi Life Insurance.
Singapore-based credit hedge fund firm Blue Rice is shutting down and returning money to investors due to uncertain markets. The firm was founded by Guan Ong (ex-Korean Investment Corporation) in 2009.

Marathon Asset Management will merge Steve Kim’s Asian fund, run from Singapore, with Gabriel Szpigiel’s emerging markets fund in New York. The combined fund will be called the Marathon Global Emerging Markets Fund.
Tor Investment Management, a Hong Kong-based credit hedge fund concentrating in financial securities set-up by Patrik Edsparr (ex-JP Morgan and Citadel), has hired Suzie Ramos for an investor relations role. Ramos joins from Agate Capital Management in Singapore.
