Toshikazu Yamazaki has left the fund of funds team at Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Asset Management in Tokyo for a role as senior portfolio manager at SRF Group in SIngapore.

Eric To has left Syz & Co. after five years at the firm. “I wish I could tell you that I’m retiring and starting a farm in California, but I’ll be back in July at a new firm” said To as he walked out the door.

Toby Bartlett (ex-Citadel, Highbridge, Fidelity) is setting up Arena Capital in Hong Kong to run a market-neutral equity long-short strategy focused on Japan and Korea.

Manoj Jain and Sohit Khurana (both ex-Och Ziff) are understood to be setting up an Asian hedge fund firm called Maso Capital in Hong Kong.

Allan Bedwick (ex-Lehman Brothers, Nomura) is closing down his global macro hedge fund. The Sequence Fundamental Macro Fund (previously known as the OGI Global Macro Fund), originally based in Tokyo and later moved to Hong Kong, was launched in 2009 and managed around US$120m.

Novatera Capital in Singapore, run by Robert Lewis (ex-JP Morgan), has shut down its Asian small-cap equity long/short fund. At the peak the firm managed US$130m.
