Diego Parrilla (ex-JP Morgan, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs) has set up Nareco Advisors in Singapore. Nareco will manage funds focused on natural resources and commodities. The firm has recently hired Gema Santander (ex-JP Morgan) as its marketing director and Tin Tyng Tan (also ex-JP Morgan) as its COO.

 

HuaAn Asset Management in Hong Kong has launched the Greater China Thematic Long/Short fund. Craig Chen is the CIO.

Valerie Wong has left fund of funds manager Vision Investment Management in Hong Kong to join AIA where she is working on investments with external managers.

 

Sean Lenihan (ex-TY Advisers/Hachiman Capital) has joined Atlantis Investment Management as a Japan portfolio adviser.

 

Citi is expanding its Asian prime brokerage business and its regional PB staff has now reached about 80. New hires include Rob Baigrie (ex-HDH Capital) and Carol Teng (ex-Nomos Capital) in capital introduction roles as well as Ian Nissen (ex-JP Morgan) as Australian head of futures and prime finance sales and Chris Day (ex-JP Morgan) in the exchange-traded derivatives team.

 

 

Il Yong Jung has left York Capital Management in Hong Kong to join Orchard Capital Partners as an analyst.

 

SAC Capital keeps expanding in Asia. The Hong Kong office of Steve Cohen’s hedge fund firm has hired portfolio managers Shantanu Nagpal (ex-Brevan Howard) and Frank Ho (ex-Highbridge) as well as business development executive Joyce Ho (ex-Harcourt).

 

Simon Phillips (ex-Cheetah Investment Management) has joined the Hong Kong office of Albourne Partners as legal counsel and real assets analyst.

Milltrust is a managed accounts platform focused on Asia, Latin America and Africa.

 

Fund of funds manager Mesirow Financial plans to open an office in Hong Kong. The new office will house both investment and IR/marketing professionals.
